Indian Cricket Team suffered a humiliating defeat against England. England Cricket Team was quite dominant in all the 3 departments of the match. Alex Hales and Jos Buttler were the stand-out performers for the team where they single-handedly scored 169 runs in 16 overs.
The Men in Blue would be dejected not because of the result of the match but because they didn’t show any sort of fight. 169 runs was a par score where a couple of early wickets upfront could have changed the dynamics of the match. Rohit Sharma’s decision to give Arshdeep Singh a solitary over didn’t go well.
Atul Wassan on India
Atul Wassan was having an interaction with PTI and was asked about Indian Cricket Team. “We can’t have the same coaching staff for the T20 and Test cricket. You hire the best for T20 format. Why didn’t we hire AB de Villers for the T20 World Cup as a mentor? He could have guided the team better. He can tell the players a bit about manufacturing the shots.” said Atul Wassan.
“This game has proved again and again that you need a new breed. In 2007, we hardly had stars, the team was comprised of youngsters, they played freely and they won the title. We are relying too much on our bigger names to deliver all the time.” he added.
Tough Loss for India
The management should be questioned for India’s downfall. The team showed no intent at all throughout the match which was quite astounding. Skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t at his best which proved out to be the turning point for the team. The over-dependency on Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli made India’s batting lineup a bit fragile.
Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be disappointed as now questions are raised over his role in the team. He was appointed after the debacle of the 2021 T20 World Cup and was expected to help India win the next tournament. India progressed quite well in the bilateral T20I Series but once again failed in the crucial junction of the match.
