In their first innings, South Africa were bundled out for 152 as Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc bagged three wickets each while Pat Cummins and Scott Boland picked up two wickets each.

The wicketkeeper-batter Kyle Verreynne was the top run-getter for the Proteas in the first innings. He scored a really good 64 runs off 96 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six.

In their first innings, Australian batters struggled against the strong Proteas pace attack, but Travis Head’s batting masterclass ensured that the Aussies take a lead. Travis Head scored an amazing 92 runs off 96 balls, including 13 fours and 1 six.

Talking about Proteas pacers, Kagiso Rabada bagged a 4-wicket haul, Marco Jansen picked up three wickets, Anrich Nortje got two wickets and Lungi Ngidi picked up one wicket.

On Day 2, Australian pacers annihilated the Proteas’ batting unit and bundled them out for just 99. Khaya Zondo with 36 runs under his belt was the top run-getter for South Africa in their second innings.

Meanwhile, captain Pat Cummins picked up a 5-wicket haul while Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland bagged two wickets each and off-spinner Nathan Lyon got one wicket.

Chasing a small target of 34 runs, Australia lost the wickets of Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Steve Smith and Travis Head inside 7 overs, courtesy of Kagiso Rabada’s absolute domination.

The premier pacer Kagiso Rabada gave a good fight, but a target of 34 was never going to be enough and the Aussies chased down the target as the match finished inside two days. The hosts have now taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Before the Brisbane Test, Team Australia were sitting at the top of the table with 75 percentage points and Team South Africa were in the second position with 60 percentage points.
