The inaugural edition of Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) new Twenty20 League (SA20) will kick off in South Africa from January 10 to February 11, 2023. The SA20 League will provide a platform for young South African cricketers as well as international players from top teams across the world.
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape franchise have signed opener Jordan Hermann as a wildcard. The 21-year-old cricketer went unsold in the SA20 auction in September. According to a Cricbuzz report, the signing amount has not been disclosed, but Hermann, a left-handed batter, had put a base price of R 175,000 for the Cape Town auction.
“@SunrisersEC have added another youngster Jordan Hermann to join the exciting talents of @TristanStubbs18 and Marco Jansen. #SA20,” SA20 said in a tweet on Thursday.

Since joining the Warriors from the Titans, Hermann has been in top form. He scored an unbeaten 187 against the Rocks in the 4-Day Series two weeks ago. Hermann has scored 186 runs in six T20 matches, including two fifties, at an average of 46.50 and a strike rate of 116.25.
The six franchises in the inaugural edition will be allowed to add a wild-card player (South African or overseas) to their squads. Each team can only have one wild card in their lineup, bringing the total permitted strength to 18. The six franchises have until December 30 to pick their Wildcards without impacting the $ 2 million player purse.
On December 2, the South African board will formally launch the SA20 in India. An event is scheduled in Mumbai just a few days after the league organizers of the UAE league (ILT20) plan a similar grand debut on November 30 in Mumbai. The two leagues’ broadcasters, Zee and Viacom, will be present at the event, which is expected to include some major announcements.
