Ravichandran Ashwin Picks Between Suryakumar Yadav And Shreyas Iyer For No. 3 Slot

Indian Cricket Team’s first T20I match against New Zealand was called off due to rain. The Men in Blue would be aiming to make the most of the remaining 2 T20Is as now every match would be crucial. Shreyas Iyer has a golden chance to make a case for himself in T20Is after being left out from the main squad of T20 WC.

New Zealand on the other hand would be hoping to start afresh after losing in the Semi-Final. The Black Caps would be aware of the fact that they need to work on their batting unit. Skipper Kane Williamson, especially needs to play aggressively as his defensive approach is not doing any good to the team.

Ravichandran Ashwin On Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer

Ravichandran Ashwin was speaking on his YouTube channel and made interesting comments on Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer.

Anyway, Shreyas Iyer at 3, and Suryakumar Yadav at 4 are a lock. There will be a temptation to send Suryakumar Yadav at 3. But I think Shreyas has earned his right. So, Shreyas will go at three and Surya will bat at 4,” said Ravichandran Ashwin.

“If you send Rishabh Pant at the top, we won’t have any left-handers in the middle order. Not having a left-hander in the middle order is also highly spoken-about. Having a left-right combination in the middle is really important in T20s. Is there a left-hand middle-order option available?” he added.

Shreyas Iyer Invaluable

Shreyas Iyer has been around the team for quite some time. The right-handed batter would be aiming to cement his place in the team. He was a part of the 2020 New Zealand series where India won the Series by 5-0 and stunned the mighty Black Caps.

The management would be hoping that Shreyas shows consistency as Suryakumar Yadav is in the form of his life. Suryakumar had said in one post-match press conference that he is ready to bat at any position. The dashing right-handed batter has shown that he can unleash the attack on the opposition at any stage.
