My role was to go in and take the tempo up and just express myself- Suryakumar Yadav

The sensational batting display in yesterday’s Asia Cup group match by Suryakumar Yadav makes him a new contender for “Mr.  360”. Suryakumar hammered Hong Kong bowlers all around the ground in his unbeaten knock of 68 runs from just 26 deliveries.

The 31-year right-handed batter is already having some records to his name in T20 internationals. 117 runs scored by him against England in July 2022 is the record for most runs in an innings by batting position. He batted at 4th position hitting 14 boundaries and 6 sixes in that innings. He is on the top of the list for the highest career strike rate in T20 internationals with a strike rate of 177.51.

He bats with aggression and elegance making him most suitable for the 4th position in the batting line-up. Suryakumar plays spin as well as fast bowling quite well.

Last night when Suryakumar came to Crease situation was just perfect for him, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He along with Kohli carved a partnership of 98 runs. Most eyes were on Virat as he was middling the ball quite well but Suryakumar steal the limelight with his quick-fire 68*.

In the last over of the Indian innings, Suryakumar Yadav smashed four sixes to Haroon Arshad taking the team’s total to 192 runs. Virat enjoyed Suryakumar’s splendid batting from the nonstriking end.

In an interview after receiving the Man of the Match award, S Yadav said

” Some of the shots I played were predetermined, T20 format is all about how you prepare before going out to bat. The pitch was a bit slow. The plan was clear in my mind, my role was just to go there and take tempo-up and just express myself. “
