IPL 2023: “If RCB Wins One Then, They’ll Probably Win Two, Three, Four Quickly”

The legendary Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player, AB de Villiers, has backed the franchise to go on a title-winning streak once they win their first IPL trophy. The Bangalore-based franchise has never won an Indian Premier League (IPL) title.

The Bangalore team reached the finals three times in 2009, 2011 and 2016, but never won the trophy. Last season, in IPL 2022, they reached the final with a great bowling attack, but they fell one step short and lost to Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.

Speaking to Star Sports, AB de Villiers, who was part of the RCB from 2011 to 2021, said that T20 cricket is a bit of a gamble, and he hopes luck will be on their side in the upcoming tournaments. “It’s been how many seasons now? Quite a few, 14 or 15 or whatever. So, they would love to break the shackles. I think if RCB wins one then, they’ll probably win two, three, four quickly, but let’s wait and see what happens, T20 cricket is a bit of a gamble sometimes, anything can happen. Especially knockout games, but hopefully RCB’s turn is around the corner,” said de Villiers.

AB de Villiers, popularly known as “Mr. 360,” has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2021. The right-handed batter played 184 matches and scored 5,162 runs in 170 innings, including three centuries and 40 half-centuries. The 38-year-old batsman is the sixth-highest run scorer in the IPL.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have retained their core group for the upcoming Indian Premier League. They may aim to add some talented youngsters to their roster in the upcoming mini-auction with INR 8.75 crores left in their purse.
