India advanced to the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinals after the Netherlands defeated South Africa by 13 runs at the Adelaide Oval On Sunday.
The race for the top two slots in Group 1 is gone. England joined New Zealand in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-finals after defeating Sri Lanka in their most recent Super12 match. Kane Williamson’s team was the first from Group 1 to qualify for the semi-finals.
Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Ireland, England, New Zealand, and Australia made up Group 1. Group 2 was made up of the Netherlands, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and India.
Each team competes in five round-robin matches in the Super 12s in accordance with the rules and playing conditions of the T20 World Cup. A win awards two points, while a game forfeit earns one point.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals after all teams have played each other once in their groups. The team with the most victories will be given the higher spot if two or more teams are tied on points, followed, if necessary, by the Net Run Rate (NRR).
As of right now, Australia, Ireland, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands can no longer hope to go to the semifinals. The only sides to have advanced to the T20 World Cup semifinals are New Zealand and England. From Group 2, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa, and India are still in the running and have a chance to advance to the semifinals.
As a result of the Netherlands defeating South Africa to knock the Proteas out of the T20 World Cup, India advanced to the semifinals. Pakistan or Bangladesh from Group 2 can join India in the last four.
India will most likely face England in the second semifinal at the Adelaide Oval:
The T20 World Cup semifinal spot for Team India has been confirmed. India formerly needed one point to advance to the tournament’s next round. On Sunday in Melbourne, Zimbabwe will stand in their way on the final matchday of the Super 12 stage. Craig Ervine’s team, whom Rohit Sharma and company would not take lightly, defeated Pakistan in the group stage a week before.
Given the importance of the Group 2 match and the stakes involved, Lineup India was previously anticipated to field their strongest team. The two semifinalists from Group 1 are New Zealand and England, with the Kiwis taking first place in the group. India is anticipated to win their group and will face Jos Buttler’s team in the semifinals.
This is the fourth edition in which India has qualified for the semifinals after 2007, 2014, and 2016.
The T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals will be played on November 9 and 10. The final will be played on November 13.
