India women’s cricket team to tour Sri Lanka in June for white-ball series

In a major, the women’s Indian team of India has received approval from the Sri Lankan Cricket board on Thursday to come and play at their grounds. The series will comprise of 3 ODIs and T20 matches between the two and the approval is one of the seven decisions the SLC (Sri Lanka Committee) has taken so far.As per the source report form the BCCI to TOI, it was revealed,

“The team will arrive in Sri Lanka on June 18. The first ODI is scheduled to take place on June 23, while the first T20I will be held on July 3. The tour will end with the last T20I on July 7,”

According to updates, the last time the Indian Women’s team was seen in the island nation was in 2018, where the Indian team won the ODI series by 2-1 and T20 series by 4 – 0.

The approval to this tour has come under the newly launched ICC Women’s ODI Championship and will serve as the qualification path for both the team going to take place in 2025.

Following the league, Indian will be participating in the commonwealth games between July & August, and it will take place in Birmingham. The commonwealth game tour will see team from Barbados, Australia and Pakistan. Once after the commonwealth game tour, the Indian Women’s Cricket team will be set for the one-day international matches as well as T20’s with the England team in September.

The match between the two will be an interesting one as the Sri Lankan will try to match the last scores with the Indian side.
