IND vs ENG: “India Were Not Great In Selection, Ignoring Yuzvendra Chahal Turned Out Very Vital Factor”: Venkatesh Prasad

Indian Cricket Team received a thumping defeat against England in the semi-final at the Adelaide Oval. The Men in Blue were blown hot and cold and now once again India will have to go back to the drawing board after a poor show in the crunch game. It looked as if India didn’t expect a powerful performance from England.

England would be delighted with this win as now they have a golden chance to win T20 World Cup after 2010. The team is looking ominous at the moment as the inclusion of Alex Hales has done wonders for the team as the batter’s Big Bash League experience has come into handy.

Venkatesh Prasad on India

Venkatesh Prasad made an interesting remark on his Twitter handle after India’s defeat.

“We are all more intelligent in hindsight. But it was so evident that wrist spinners will do very well in Adelaide. And India was not great in their selection and ignoring Chahal turned out to be a very vital factor. England deserved winners,” said Venkatesh Prasad.

Questionable Selection

The management not only missed a trick by not including Chahal in the playing 11 against England, but they also took a huge risk by playing Rishabh Pant ahead of Dinesh Karthik.

It looked as if the team was in a mood of experimentation just like the same way they did in Asia Cup 2022. The management should have stuck to one combination as frequently chopping and changing don’t work in T20I Cricket.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Skipper Rohit Sharma would be worried as now their roles are in a precarious position. The Men in Blue need to break their shackles and play their natural game as scoring a mere 38 runs in the power-play overs won’t keep the team in good stead.

As we all know, India’s next assignment is against New Zealand where most of the senior players are rested and a second-string team is sent there. This tour would most likely bring out some new faces to the team and we can expect a lot of retirements too in the near future.
