KL Rahul scored his second successive fifty of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 with all class and power, while Suryakumar Yadav added to the fireworks with a whirlwind half-century to help India reach a mammoth 186/5 in 20 overs against Zimbabwe in their final Group 2 match in the Super 12 stage on Sunday, November 6.
Suryakumar changed the tempo of the match with the absolutely insane striking of the ball in death overs and scored 61 runs off just 25 balls with six fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 244. India got 79 runs in the last five overs with his trademark scoops and mesmerizing lofted shots. The Men in Blue wanted to see him excel in the knockout games as he did in Super 12.
Suryakumar Yadav Knows His Game – Shahid Afridi
Speaking on Samna TV, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi said that Suryakumar Yadav has a unique skill set for hitting sixes.
“He (Suryakumar) has come to the Indian team after playing over 250 (domestic) matches. He knows his game. He hits sixes, even off good deliveries. Because he has put a lot of practice behind his game.”
“As a batsman, you will have to develop good shots to become an impactful player. T20 is such a format where you will have to hit sixes all across the ground. More variety of shots you have runs will easily come to your kitty,” he added.
Suryakumar Yadav has been in excellent form this year, with nine half-centuries and a maiden T20I century against England in June. The batter scored 1026 runs in 28 matches with a stunning strike rate of 186.54 and has smashed 59 sixes this year so far. The 31-year-old is the third-leading scorer in the ongoing T20 World Cup with 225 runs in five innings, including three fifties, at an average of 75 and an impressive strike rate of 193.96.
