Chennai Super Kings‘ (CSK) decision to leave Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, and Adam Milne raised a lot of eyebrows. Dwayne Bravo has been on the team for more than a decade. It looks like the 4 Time Champions have decided to start afresh after a disappointing 2022 season where they finished in 9th position.
There are chances that the 2023 edition could be MS Dhoni’s last one as BCCI now has indicated that the home and away matches format would be back. Dhoni had previously stated that he would bid adieu to IPL when he plays at his home ground.
CSK CEO on Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, and Adam Milne
CSK CEO was having an interaction with Sport-star and was asked about Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, and Adam Milne. “In Bravo’s case, age was definitely a factor. Our experience has shown that Jordan has not done well in the Indian conditions during the IPL. Adam Milne is prone to injuries.” said KS Vishwanathan.
Crucial Tournament for CSK
CSK has a strenuous task on their hands as we had seen in the 2022 edition how all the teams were competitive. CSK will have to be spot on with their selection as losing 4-5 matches back-to-back will hamper the team’s chances. MS Dhoni would be aiming to make the 2023 edition count after a disastrous 2022. CSK has a purse of 20.45 Crores where they have 3 overseas slots remaining which would be quite pivotal to the team’s chances.
All eyes would be on Ambati Rayudu as the right-handed batter is not only immensely experienced but he knows how to play match-winning knocks in crunch situations. The Men in Yellow would be banking on the all-rounder Moeen Ali to contribute with both bat and ball as his 4 overs are invaluable to the team. It would be interesting to see whether CSK changes their approach in the upcoming edition as once again their arsenal is spin as they have got Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, and Maheesh Theekshana present in the team who can rattle the opposition on the given day.
